felt rugs by Peace Industry

If you have a spare minute do watch this fascinating video on felt rug making, in which one of the last Iranian felt rug makers shows the whole process. The viedo was made by Peace Industry, a company owned by Melina and Dodd Raissnia.  ‘Peace Industry felt rugs are made from 100% lamb’s wool and natural dyes. They are hand-made in small batches insuring that each piece is unique and exceptional in quality.’

There is a gallery of hanfelted rugs and other interesting images on their Flickr account too.

  1. Hi Monika,

just watched the video with great interest. Do you have any idea why he is burning the felt with a torch? I never saw that done before: and thanks for the interesting link, by the way.

    • I don’t know, Lucie. First I thought he wants to dry the rug to proceed to the next step, but I am not sure. I just edmire his stamina, it must be incredibly physically demanding.

  2. Hi Monica,
I thought I had your email address but cant find it.
You asked me about how to find out how many followers you have. On the design of my blog there is a feature to add a thing for people to follow through. There is probabaly somehwere on the your blog dashboard( the bit you use to write the blogs that only you see ) that lets you look at the statistics. if you use goolge reader to read other blogs the subscribe to your onw and when you subscibe of unsubscibe it tells you how many other people read the blog. That probably doesnt make any sense but I am not sure how else to describe it!
